Jürgen Oswald
Jürgen Oswald bass trombone Jürgen Oswald was born 1989 in Voitsberg/Austria and began to play the trombone at the age of 10 in a small wind band in his hometown. Since 2016, Jürgen is the bass trombone player of the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatsoper Berlin, with its general music director Daniel Barenboim. With almost 450 years of tradition, Staatskapelle Berlin is one of the oldest orchestras in the world. Tours with the orchestra brought Jürgen already around the globe. Special moments like playing at Sydney Opera house in Australia, the Teatro Colon in Argentina or to play the whole Cycle of Anton Bruckner´s symphonies at the Carnegie Hall New York, within two weeks, have been some of the highlights.
Jürgen is often asked to play as a guest musician with some of the leading orchestras, like the Wiener Philharmoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker, Bavarian Radio Symphony orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Bavarian State Opera, Mahler Chamber Orchestra a.o. As a chamber musician, Jürgen plays regularly concerts with the Pierre Boulez Ensemble. Jürgen was studying trombone since 2007 at the Kunstuniversität Graz, the Mozarteum Salzburg, with teachers like Hans Ströcker, Dany Bonvin and finally graduated with a Masters degree with Stefan Schulz at UDK Berlin. Before that, Jürgen was also accepted into the Akademie of the State opera in Hamburg in 2012 and was a member of the Verbier Festival orchestra since 2011. Beside playing in the orchestra, Jürgen is also teaching as a mentor in the Akademie of Staatskapelle Berlin since 2019.Since 2020 Jürgen Oswald is an Artist of S.E. Shires.
